My Story

Moodboard explaining my cultural heritage (born in Hungary, half Hungarian, half Romanian) and my move to Los Angeles to pursue an education and career in fashion. It also illustrates my inspirations in design.

Alexandra Mot is a 23-year-old Hungarian fashion designer based in Los Angeles, where she moved to pursue her passion for fashion. Specializing in crochet, stage clothes, and upcycling, she blends historical Victorian era fashion with elements from 80s post-punk and goth subcultures. Her work emphasizes sustainability, drawing from the DIY spirit of alternative music scenes.

From a young age, Alexandra was captivated by fashion, starting with doll collecting and eventually designing tiny outfits for her favorite Monster High dolls. Her career path became clearer after watching an Alexander McQueen fashion show in high school, which inspired her to pursue fashion design. Despite the challenges of studying in Hungary and navigating a competitive education system, she moved to the U.S. at 20, determined to create a future in the fashion world.

She earned her Associate's degree in Fashion Design from Santa Monica College and has interned for renowned designer Henry Duarte, working with rock stars and celebrities. Her passion for stage design led to collaborations with artists like Palestinian star Elyanna and Swedish metal band Ghost. In her own design practice, she uses crochet to create unique, intricate pieces and combines them with upcycled materials to create a dark, textured results.

Alexandra's goal is to make her mark in the costume industry, working on movie sets or designing for musicians, and to build a high-end clothing brand that rivals alternative fashion giants. She is driven by the desire to create lasting, meaningful work that merges art with fashion.
